Theratime is currently looking for a Child/Adolescent Therapist in the Sioux Falls area to add to our team of Speech and Occupational Therapists. Theratime is one of the leading private practice Speech/Occupational therapy clinics in Sioux Falls, supporting the area for the past 20 years. We currently provide Speech and Occupational Therapy services to more than 250 children in a variety of environments: our clinic, clients’ homes, schools/daycares, and also partner with medical clinics and other healthcare agencies. We look forward to adding a Child and Adolescent Therapist to our team who can support the families we work with by providing mental health assessments, treatment planning, and psychotherapy.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for leveraging therapeutic benefits to help children express their feelings, process experiences, and develop coping mechanisms in a safe and nurturing environment; under the companies’ core values of Excellence, Service and Dignity, in accordance with the state and federal regulatory licensing/certification and accreditation requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:
- Conduct initial assessments to understand the child's needs and develop treatment plans.
- Use appropriate therapy techniques to help children express their feelings and resolve conflicts.
- Create a safe and supportive environment for the child to engage in therapeutic services.
- Work with parents and caregivers to provide guidance and strategies for supporting the child’s emotional health at home.
- Conduct follow-up sessions to track the child’s progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Stay updated with the latest research and developments in therapy and child psychology.
- Provide crisis intervention when necessary.
- Consult with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, primary nurses, and other healthcare professionals to meet the medical needs of individual clients.
- Prepare and maintain detailed and organized therapy records and agency documentation, follow agency infection control policies and procedures; and monitor condition and maintenance of patient adaptive equipment, recommending appropriate adjustments and improvements.
- Prepare and conduct professional in-services, programs, and marketing visits.
- Other related job duties may include: driving company vehicles to assigned locations within the Sioux Falls area, maintaining orderliness of assigned therapy areas, identifying needs for equipment and supplies, identifying repair and calibration of equipment, and completing equipment and supply requisitions.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field with a focus on child development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in documenting and maintaining accurate records of therapy sessions.
- Strong observational and analytical skills.
- Compassionate and patient approach to working with children.
- Ability to develop and implement therapy plans.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Valid South Dakota driver’s license and clean driving record required.
PREFERRED:
- Certification from the respective SD board
- Certification in Play Therapy (e.g., Registered Play Therapist (RPT) or equivalent).
- Relevant licensure or certification for providing therapy services.
- Experience working with children in a therapeutic setting.
- Strong understanding of child development and psychological theories.
OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Technical competence to use computers and electronic health record software utilized by the organization.
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Knowledge of electronic medical documentation.
- Employees may be asked to complete Personal Crisis Management training.
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
This position has been evaluated as a Level I in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) definition of Occupational Exposure to Blood Borne Pathogens. Positions in this category may be required to perform tasks which may involve exposure to blood, potentially infectious body fluids, or hazardous waste.
A full range of body motion is also required; including the ability to stoop, kneel, reach, stand and walk for extensive periods of time; push, pull and grasp items, finger dexterity, eye/hand coordination, and the ability to assist in lifting patients weighing up to 35 pounds, using proper body mechanics.
